The First Peak Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit public benefit company with the mission to restore the legendary surfing wave First Peak.

Our purpose is to raise public awareness of this opportunity through our publicly accessible website, the First Peak Project. By the time you’ve navigated to this page, we trust that you’ve explored our project a little. Hopefully, you’ve read our mission statement, and you’ve checked out some of our other posts. Maybe you’ve even researched the history of First Peak here on our site and the world wide web.

We hope that a combination of history, social media shares, and the dream of making man-made surfing waves inspires you to follow our project. However, now it’s time to get down to business. To say this in the politest terms, one cannot show up and restore a surfing wave. It doesn’t work like that. For success, the First Peak Project is going to take time, resources, dedication, rigorous scientific study and funding. It’s the only way it’s going to happen.

Moreover, the world has been plagued by failed man-made surfing projects. There has been a multitude of over-hyped, over-promised and undelivered projects all over the world. We’ve all heard that promise of world-class man-made waves before. We don’t want the First Peak Project, to suffer a similar fate but yet we acknowledge that this history is working against us. What it all boils down to is that to restore First Peak we’re going to have to learn from these mistakes.

The First Peak Project also learns from the tremendous knowledge of surfing waves gained every day with the growth of surf pools.

Times have changed since the first artificial surfing reefs and surf pools. The time has come when restoring a surfing wave is now possible. Fundamental to our success, we’ll connect with people from many different backgrounds and on many different levels who now have tremendous experience in the realm of man-made surfing waves. We’re calling on all engineers, scientists, ecologists, environmentalists, artists, photographers, surfers, citizens and dreamers who want to see a great wave brought back to life.

The First Peak Foundation lays the groundwork for restoring First Peak by creating a platform to ensure our solution is sustainable, ecologically sound, and engineered using state-of-the-art technology. That platform is called the First Peak Project. Unlike proposals in the past, our project will take an in-depth look into the multi-faceted world of restoring a surfing wave using all the wisdom and knowledge of those projects which have come before us. η
